Sockers Advance to Final
March 11, 2011 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
San Diego Sockers News Release
Anthony Medina scored two goals and added an assist, and rookie goalkeeper Chris Toth had his breakout performance of the season with three goals allowed and two assists, as the San Diego Sockers (15-2 PASL-Pro) defeated the Mexico City Sidekicks 7-3 at the Cincinnati Gardens in the PASL North American Championship semifinals.
Subbing for starting keeper Riley Swift, Toth helped the Sockers navigate a scoreless first quarter.
Kraig Chiles potted his league-leading 34th goal of the season to open the scoring for San Diego, and defender John Krause added a pair of goals as San Diego scored three straight in the third quarter to establish control of the game.
When the Sidekicks went to six attackers with 7:01 to play in the game, Toth lifted a pair of assists over the back line of the Mexico City defense, setting up Krause and Medina's second goals of the night.
The Sockers advance to the PASL North American Championship final, where they will face either the Cincinnati Kings or La Raza de Guadalajara (updated later with result from second semi).
