SIDEKICKS MEXICO 10 CALGARY 2 F

Mexico City scored the first goal of the night just nine seconds into the contest and didn't look back as the Sidekicks defeated Calgary United, 10-2, in the second quarterfinal game of the Professional Arena Soccer League championships at the Cincinnati Gardens Thursday night.

The Sidekicks had a 4-1 lead at the half and were never challenged in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals before Calgary could answer late in the fourth quarter. The Sidekicks were led by Ramon Fernandez Moreno's three goals.

The Mexico City team is playing in the PASL championships with heavy hearts, having lost three of their teammates in a fatal van accident last month. The team decided to participate in the championships, and compete in their memory.

The Sidekicks now move to the PASL semi-finals Friday evening, where they will play the top seeded San Diego Sockers at 6:30 p.m.
