McAllen Thunder News Release


EDINBURG, Texas- Scott Sobzcak pitched seven and one third innings of relief leading the McAllen Thunder past the Edinburg Roadrunners 3-0 and snapping their five-game win streak Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Sobzcack (1-0) carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the eighth inning before Felix Molina broke it up with a single to right field.

Nelson Teilon gave Sobzcack and the Thunder (28-48) all the runs they needed in the top of the first with a solo homerun that made it 1-0.

McAllen added a run in the top of the second against Miguel Martinez after Gianison Rosa hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Miguel Alfonzo to score making it 2-0.

Martinez (9-4) pitched well for the Roadrunners (46-30) but took the loss after allowing two run in seven innings pitched with five strike outs.

In the top of the eighth, Teilon gave McAllen an insurance run with an RBI single that drove in Yasser Gomez pushing their lead to 3-0.

Chad Robinson picked up his 12th save of the season after a scoreless ninth giving the Thunder the 3-0 victory.

The Thunder will be off on Monday, but return to action on Tuesday as they open a four game series against the Rio Grande Valley White Wings at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
