Smokies Take Final Game From Suns

Kodak, Tenn. - Tyler Colvin was three-for-three with two runs scored while starter Casey Coleman allowed one hit through his first five innings as the Tennessee Smokies (57-63, 25-25) defeated=2 0the Jacksonville Suns (68-52, 34-16) 7-4 in front of 6,109 Saturday night at Smokies Park.

Coleman (13-5) allowed only an infield hit through hit first five innings before being charged with four runs in the sixth inning for the win. Jacksonville starter Jarrett Santos (3-2) fell in the loss, giving up seven runs, five earned, with nine hits over four and one-thirds innings. Jayson Ruhlman (4) saved the game by retiring all five batters he faced.

Tennessee built an early lead beginning in the second inning when Welington Castillo knocked in Tyler Colvin with a single for a 1-0 score. Later in the inning Marquez Smith scored on an error by shortstop Ryan Klosterman for a 2-0 lead.

The Smokies added a third run in the fourth inning when Tyler Colvin scored on a passed ball following his leadoff triple for a 3-0 score.

Tennessee sent all nine hitters to the plate in the fifth inning, while scoring four runs to build the lead to 7-0. Ty Wright singled home a run, Blake Lalli plated two with a base hit before a Marquez Smith double added another run for the Smokies advantage.

Jacksonville finally broke through against Coleman in the sixth inning when Ryan Klosterman belted a first-pitch homerun for a 7-1 score. Later in the inning Matt Dominguez drove in a run with a bases loaded walk for a 7-2 score. Chris Hatcher next singled home a run before a Logan Morrison sacrifice fly ended the scoring at 7-4.
