CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Smokies (48-41, 11-9) defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts (38-51, 4-16) 12-6 Saturday night at AT&T Field, clinching a series-win in the second contest of the three-game set.
The Smokies trailed 6-1 by the end of the second inning, but they did not give up, exploding for eight runs in the top of the fourth inning. Tennessee hit three home runs in the frame off the bats of Alexander Canario, Bryce Ball and Miguel Amaya. The Smokies would score in each of the last two innings and cruised to a six-run victory.
RHP Peyton Remy (W 6-3) got the win out of the bullpen, as he went four innings, surrendered two runs and struck out six in relief of DJ Herz -- who recorded just one out in his Double-A debut. Jeremiah Estrada and CD Pelham allowed only four hits the rest of the way and kept the Lookouts off the scoreboard in the later innings.
The Smokies and the Lookouts will play the final game of this three-game series Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field. First pitch is set for 2:15 p.m. ET when the Smokies send RHP Riley Thompson (0-2, 7.36 ERA) to the mound to face RHP Eduardo Salazar (5-9, 5.82 ERA).
