Jackson, Tenn. - John Gall and Bucky Jacobsen each homered and had four hits as part of a 22-hit attack as the Smokies (19-10) won the final game of the season series with the Diamond Jaxx (14-15) 15-6 Sunday afternoon at Pringles Park. The Smokies set season highs for hits and runs for the second time in four games and finished the series with 62 hits.
Nick Stocks (3-0) singled home Dan Moylan in the second inning to start the scoring for the Smokies, who have won eight of their last nine.
Gall's solo home run came against Aaron Krawiec (3-2) in the third as part of a four-hit afternoon for the former Stanford standout while Jacobsen hit the first of his two in the fifth inning. Jacobsen's second home run of the game came in the ninth as the Smokies scored seven times to blow open a two-run game.
Corey Erickson's solo home run in the ninth inning chased Jason Karnuth and paved the way for two position players to make their mound debuts for West Tenn. Outfielder Jon Hamilton failed to record an out and shortstop Josh Artaega finished the ninth. Rick Ankiel capped the scoring with a pinch hit two run single off Artaega.
Following a day off Monday, the Smokies return home to play host to the Greenville Braves for a five game series beginning Tuesday. Tuesday's game will be a double header starting at 6:15.
