FIRE SUFFERS SETBACK TO SOUTH GEORGIA: The Fire was doomed by fumbles in Saturday nights 77-53 defeat to the South Georgia Wildcats. The Fire turned the ball over four times and South Georgia scored off of three of those turnovers. Quorey Payne made a very impressive debut in with the Fire catching 13 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Tiger Jones also surpassed the 100 yard receiving mark for the second straight game with 106 yards on 11 catches and two touchdowns. Matt Sauk also made his return to the Fire, filling in for an injured Joel Steele. Sauk was 33-41 for 363 yards and six touchdowns.
FIRE TO TAKE ON JUNGLE KATS: The Fire returns to Freedom Hall this Friday night to take on the Cincinnati Jungle Kats. The Jungle Kats opened their season with an 81-21 defeat to Quad City. This will be the first meeting between the two rivals. This is Cincinnati's second foray into the af2, the Cincinnati Swarm were members of the league in 2003. The game will kick-off at 5:30 and be followed by a post game concert with the Charlie Daniels Band.
