FIRE STREAKS INTO PLAYOFFS: The Fire ended the regular season on a high note, defeating Quad City 70-56 on Saturday. The victory was the Fire's fifth straight, a franchise record and also gave the Fire 11 wins for the season, also a franchise record. Fire WR/LB Dennis Fryzel caught eight passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Rob Mager and Lawrence Matthews each had two touchdown receptions. Rob Green led the way defensively with nine tackles and two pass breakups. The highlight of the night came in the second quarter when quarterback Matt Sauk found Rob Mager from 23 yards out for his third touchdown pass of the game and number 94 for the season. Sauk finished the game with eight touchdown passes giving him 99 for the season. Sauk also set the league record for yards in a season after throwing for 315 yards.

ROUND ONE IN MACON: Despite being the number three seed in the ArenaCup playoffs the Fire will have to travel this weekend because Freedom Hall is not available. The Fire will head south to take on the Macon Knights. Macon started the season 2-5 but rallied to an 8-8 finish and a berth in the playoffs. The Fire and the Knights have met once before, in 2004 with the Fire defeating Macon 78-42 in Freedom Hall. The game will kickoff at 7:30 and can be heard on 1080 WKJK.

SAME STORY: The Fire defense once again stepped up in the third quarter holding Quad City to seven points and forcing a turnover. The defense allowed just 14 points in the second half after giving up 42 in the first half.
