Smith Voted CHL Player Of The Week

LAREDO, TX- Laredo Bucks forward Darryl Smith has been voted the CHL/Oakley Player of the week, for the period ending December 7th.

The 5'11, 190 pound Smith helped lead the Bucks to a 3-0 week, scoring five goals, with four assists for nine points and a +9 rating. Smith's numbers last week also include one game-winning goal, and one short-handed tally.

Smith, a rookie, put up two goals and two assists, with a +4 rating against both Rio Grande Valley, and Arizona last week. In the Bucks 2-1 shootout win over Texas, Smith tallied Laredo's first goal, and scored in the shootout.

Smith currently has a 10-game point streak.

In 20 games this season Smith, is second in the CHL in scoring, and leads all rookies with 32 points (16-16=32). Smith's 16 goals are second in the league, while his +14 rating puts him third in the league.

Smith becomes the second Bucks player this season to take home a weekly award, as Sebastien Centomo was named CHL goaltender of the week November 17th.

Smith will receive a special gift from Oakley recognizing his accomplishment.
