Smith Named UIF Player of the Week

For the second consecutive week, a Sioux Falls Storm player has been recognized by United Indoor Football (UIF) as a Player of the Week. In Week 4, it was Terrance Bryant and his seven touchdown passes vs. Omaha that were rewarded. This week it is Storm running back Marques Smith who had the best week of any UIF player.

Smith rushed for 65 yards and four touchdowns in the Storm's 51-18 victory over the Billings Outlaws. Smith is only 95 rushing yards away from being the Storm's all-time leader. Smith is playing in his third season for the Storm and currently has 1,238 rushing yards in his career. Smith has scored 11 touchdowns this season, which is tied for the league lead. This is the first time Smith has been honored by the league as Player of the Week. Smith was named the UIF's Most Improved Player following the 2006 season in which he rushed for 776 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.

The Storm will hit the road for their next game for their first ever match-up with the Colorado Ice. Be part of the Storm Chasers Bus Trip to Fort Collins, CO May 5, celebrating Cinco De Mayo.
