Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Crosscutters made six errors in a 7-2 loss to the Tri-City ValleyCats, who completed the sweep of Williamsport in front of a packed Bowman Field Friday night.
Ramon Oviedo got the start and allowed five runs, three earned, in four innings of work.
Nic Hanson was impressive in relief, allowing only one run across four innings, but the bats never awoke after the fourth innings, as
The Cutters only mustered four hits, all but one of which came in the fourth.
Oviedo allowed the first run of the game, but Brian Pointer scored Larry Greene on a sac fly to left to tie it up in the second.
Oviedo then allowed three more in the third, although again, a Roman Quinn error kept the inning alive.
Andrew Aplin homered to make it 5-1, before Mitch Walding's RBI-single cut it to 5-2.
But the bats would remain dormant. ValleyCat pitching retired 16 of the last 17 batters to protect a 7-2 lead to the end.
The Crosscutters start a series with Vermont tomorrow. First pitch is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
