Mike Embach scored a sudden-death game-winner 3:22 into overtime Wednesday to push the Indiana Ice to a 4-3 win over the Waterloo Black Hawks.

The Ice had the only goal in the first period, scored by Eric Miller on a rebound chance.

Waterloo swung ahead in the second period with powerplay goals separated by less than three minutes. James Marcou scored the first from a Blake Kessel rebound, then Ryan Cramer fired a puck over Alex Kangas' right shoulder when Marcou made a behind-the-back pass to him. With 35 seconds to play in the period, Miller scored his second goal, squeeking a puck through Ryan Rondeau's pads.

Miller picked up the hat trick in the seventh minute of the third period, but another wrist shot over Kangas' shoulder by Josh Turnbull at 13:53 forced overtime.

Embach's overtime score came during a goalmouth scramble on the fourth Indiana shot of the extra period. The Ice believed they had scored earlier in the shift when the goal light turned on with the puck in the Black Hawk crease.

The loss sets up a must-win game against the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders on Saturday at Young Arena. Without a win, Waterloo will not qualify for the Clark Cup final four next weekend. Many seats still remain for the Black Hawks first-ever playoff meeting against their archrivals. Fan's are encouraged to wear white and "white-out" the rink, and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive thunder stix from Next Generation Wireless. Game time is 7:05.
