Sliders To Start 2012 Season With A Bang

Opening Night for the Springfield Sliders is this Tuesday at 6:35pm at Robin Roberts Stadium. Gates will open an hour before game time and the first 1,000 fans into the stadium will receive a magnet schedule. The Seven Senators from Springfield High School, fresh off of their heralded performance at Busch Stadium, will get things started by singing the National Anthem, and will also stay to sing again during the 7th inning stretch. The first pitch will be thrown out be Springfield's Mayor, J. Michael Houston. This will be the first time the fans will get a chance to meet the 2012 Springfield Sliders as they take aim at the 2012 Prospect League Championship. After the game, there will be a special fireworks show to cap off the night.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex. Opening Day is May 29.
