The Springfield Sliders have announced the return of middle infielder Brock Harding for the 2012 season. The 5'11" 195 lb. Harding is a 2009 graduate of Rochester High School has been a vital part of Southern Illinois University's success this year, batting .315 and recording 46 hits for the Salukis.
The Sliders have also signed Lindenwood's Matthew Tellor and Wade Rothermich. Rothermich, a 6', 165 lb. freshmen from O'Fallon, Missouri has started every game this year for the Lions and has proven to be a force at the plate in the Mid-America Conference. While batting .385 as a freshman, Rothermich also has 70 hits, 10 doubles and a .489 on base percentage.
Tellor, a 6'5", 205 lb. sophomore is from Sarasota, Florida. Matthew has been the anchor for the Lion's at first base this season. He has also excelled at the plate, batting .310 with 52 hits, 14 doubles and 7 home runs for the Lions.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League. Established in 2009, the Prospect League is dedicated to providing collegiate athletes a professional-style experience in a summer wood bat league while providing fans with an affordable, quality entertainment experience in a professional (minor league) setting. Opening Day is May 29.
