Sliders Roster Nearly Set

Springfield Sliders News Release
From Southern Vermont University the Sliders signed Erik Johansen, a lefthanded pitcher in his freshman year. Johansen made seven appearances for Southern Vermont this season managing a solid 38.2 innings of work. Erik would go 2-4 on the season with a 5.82 ERA while striking out 26 batters.
From the southeastern part of the country the Sliders signed Christian Wonders out of Georgia College and State University. Wonders is in his junior year and saw limited playing time this season in Georgia due to non-baseball related issues. Before playing at Georgia College Wonders played a season at Brevard Community College where he went 1-4 with a 7.87 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched.
Kevin Simmons will also be joining the Sliders this summer. Simmons comes from Mississippi Valley St. where currently in his freshman yeah he pitched 32 innings for the Delta Devils. Simmons posted a 7.31 ERA and finished with a 1-5 record.
The Sliders also signed pitcher Derek Schneider from Western Michigan University. Derek is also a freshman pitcher having pitched in 31.1 innings this season. He struck out 17 while allowing 9 walks and would post a 7.18 ERA to go with his 1-3 record.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
