Sliders Roster Includes Ten from State

The 2015 Springfield Sliders roster is shaping up and so far it includes 10 players that played high school baseball in Illinois. They include:
Tyler Borski, FR, Chatham, IL, Lincoln Land C.C. - Tyler is a 2013 graduate of Riverton High School. Three years he was named 1st Team All Conference and his senior year he was named All State. In his freshman season at Lincoln Land he batted .336 in 47 games scoring 38 runs while leading the team with 19 stolen bases.
Cale Hennemann, FR, Pawnee, IL, Eastern Illinois Univ.- Played at Pawnee HS... helped team capture four straight conference titles with the school posting a 101-28 record in four seasons... team won regional title three straight years from sophomore to senior season... four-time All-Conference selection... four-time All-Area selection... named All-State in 2013 and 2014... hit .452 as a senior finishing his career with a .446 batting average... had .563 on-base percentage for season and .580 for his career...
Matt Hilmes, FR, Carlyle, IL, Quincy Univ. - Went 7-2 as a starter for Carlyle H.S. during his senior season. He posted a 2.10 ERA in over 42 innings pitched and struck out 53 while walking only 20.
Eric Phillis, JR, Streator, IL, Univ. of Illinois-Springfield - As a sophomore at Kankakee C.C. Phillis hit a whopping .380 and led the team in doubles (21), triples (7), home runs (7) and RBI's (72) in 63 games while striking out only 21 times in over 200 AB's.
Dylan Rosa, FR, Chicago, IL, Kent State University - lettered four years at Providence Catholic High School, won the Class 4A State Championship in 2014, Named Player of the Year, State Tournament MVP, All-State, All-Area and All-Conference as a senior, also lettered two years in football
Nick Kowalczuk, RS FR, Chicago, IL, Illinois State Univ. - Two-sport varsity athlete, having competed in baseball and wrestling ... was a four-year varsity baseball player ... clubbed seven home runs and 36 RBIs as a senior ... belted three home runs in one game as a senior ... guided Oak Park-Rover Forest to a regional championship, en route to Chicago Sun-Times All-Area First-Team honors ... was named All-West Suburban Conference and the Oak Park-River Forest Male Athlete of the Year ... was also a letter winner in wrestling.
Drew Curtis, SO, Edwardsville, IL, Southern Illinois Univ. - Named First Team All-Metro and the Madison County Athlete of the Year by the St. Louis Post Dispatch... Earned a spot on the All-State team his senior year... During his senior year, he hit .396 with 10 doubles, 10 home runs, and 46 RBI.
Timothy DalPorta, FR, Chicago, IL, Kent State - Lettered four years at Nazareth Academy, was regional champions in 2014 and sectional champions in 2013. Posted career numbers of .329 batting average, 117 hits, 6 homeruns, 80 RBI and 66 runs scored in H.S. Named All-Area and All-Conference as a senior and was also an All-Area selection as a junior and sophomore.
Alec Altmeyer, FR, Champaign, IL, Illinois St. - Played baseball all four years pitched in and won the regional title game his senior year team broke school record for wins as a senior earned All-Big 12 accolades threw a no-hitter his junior year team won conference title as a junior.
Will Schneider, SO, Riverton, IL, Lincoln Land C.C. - Prospect League All-Star in 2014 for the Sliders. Finished the season with a .282 batting average which was good for third best on the team to go along with two home runs and 14 RBI's in 59 games last summer. Schneider led the Sliders in games played, runs, hits, doubles and walks last season.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
