Sliders Return Two from 2014

The Springfield Sliders announced that two players from last year's team will return in 2015 as the team looks to rebound from a disappointing season.
Prospect League All-Star and Riverton native Will Schneider (Lincoln Land C.C.) will return to the Sliders this summer. Schneider, IF, finished the season with a .282 batting average which was good for third best on the team to go along with two home runs and 14 RBI's in 59 games last summer. Schneider led the Sliders in games played, runs, hits, doubles and walks last season. He also committed a team high 18 errors.
Jose Marin (Univ. of Illinois-Springfield) will return to the mound for the Sliders as well in 2015. Marin was a utility pitcher for the Sliders last season pitching in 18 games, second most on the team, starting in four of those games including a complete game win. Marin finished 1-3 with a 5.90 ERA in 42.2 IP while striking out 39 batters and walking 29. His 39 strikeouts were second best on the team last summer.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
