
Sliders Finalize 2012 Pitching Staff

With Opening Day now less than a week away, the Springfield Sliders have announced the signing of 4 pitchers to fill out the final spots on their 2012 roster.
JD Dozier, a 6' 4", 215lb. left hander from Pawnee, IL comes to the Sliders after his junior season at Benedictine University. He finished this season with a 5-2 record and a 3.33 ERA in 46 innings.
Thomas Dunne, a 6'3", 185 lb. right hander from Bartonville, IL, joins the Sliders after completing his freshman season at Illinois Central. He made 10 appearances and had 11 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.
Brandon Shaw comes to the Sliders from Lincoln Land CC. The 5'10", 165 lb. right hander just completed his sophomore season during which he went 7-1 with a 4.25 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 72 innings.
6' 3", 185 lb. Sophomore right hander Jeremy Holcombe from Faulkner University rounds out the Sliders' 2012 pitching staff. He threw one inning out of the bullpen for the Eagles, striking out one batter and not giving up a run.
The players arrive on May 25 and the first full team workout will be held on May 26 at Robin Roberts Stadium. Practices on May 27 and 28 from 9am-11am and 12pm-2pm will be open to the public. Players will be available in between sessions and after the second session for autographs.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League, playing at historic Robin Roberts Stadium. The Sliders are members of the Western Division along with the Danville (IL) Dans, DuBois County (IN) Bombers, Hannibal (MO) Cavemen, Quincy (IL) Gems, and Terre Haute (IN) Rex. Opening Day is May 29.
