Sliders Announce New Field Manager

The Springfield Sliders announced the hiring of Casey Dill as Field Manager for the 2105 season.

Casey has been a Field Manager in both independent professional baseball and in summer league baseball.

From 2012 - 2014 Casey has worked as a Field Manager in independent minor league baseball, in both the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs and the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs. He led the Las Cruces Vaqueros and the Las Vegas Train Robbers to the league championship series in consecutive years, earning a Northern Division Championship title and earning an overall record of 86-57 (.601%). In his time with the league, Casey promoted 40 players to higher levels of professional baseball, more than any other manager in the league during that time period.

Casey's teams led the league in total offense in both seasons and set the all-time league record for team ERA in 2013. He was named manager of the Northern Division All-Star team in 2013, earning a victory over the Southern Division.

Casey also works as an instructor and manager every year in the California Winter League,an instructional showcase league for current professional and free agent baseball players.

Casey was Field Manager for the Nor Cal Pirates from 2006-2011. In that time, the Pirates emerged as one of the top summer programs in California. In his time as manager of the Pirates, Casey has led the team has an impressive overall record of 219-115 and three league championships.

Casey is currently an Assistant Coach at New Mexico Highlands University (NCAA DII), working with pitchers and catchers.

In 2010 Casey was the Head Coach of the SSK All-American team which competed in the Team USA Labor Day Cupof the Goodwill Series. Casey has also worked as an Assistant Coach at Chico State University.

PROSPECT LEAGUE ADDS EXPANSION TEAM FOR 2015

The Prospect League announced earlier this month that Kokomo, IN will join the Prospect League and will begin play in 2015. Kokomo will be home to a brand new state of the art baseball stadium that is currently under construction and should be completed in time for the start of the 2015 season.

Kokomo will be the league's 12th team and will compete in the West Division. The expansion will give the West Division six teams. The other teams in the west are Springfield, Hannibal, MO, Quincy, IL, Danville, IL and Terre Haute, IN.

The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
