
Sliders Add Four with Local Ties

Ridge Ackerman is a freshman from Lincoln Land Community College. The right handed pitcher graduated from Sacred Heart Griffin in Springfield. Ridge made 11 starts for Lincoln Land this season where he went 7-4 with a 2.41 ERA which led the team in wins. He also threw six complete games. In 74.2 innings pitched he struck out 81 batters while only walking 12. Opponents hit only .216 off him all season. Ackerman will also provide a little versatility for the Sliders as he can also play the infield when needed.
Kyle Weller is a native of Pleasant Plains, IL and played his freshman season at Parkland Community College. Weller made 12 appearances this season, starting seven games, and finished with a team best ERA of 2.98. He finished 9-2 overall with 4 complete games in 63.1 innings pitched. Weller struck out 66 and walked only 16 batters all season.
Marvin Campos also spent his freshman season at Parkland Community College after growing up in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Campos saw action in 33 games this season finishing with a .211 batting average and driving in 11 runs. The middle infielder looks to get plenty more at-bats with the Sliders this summer.
Will Fisher hails from Havana, IL and spent his sophomore season at Mississippi Valley St. Due to outside circumstances Fisher did not play during the 2013 season. In 2012 Fisher played at Oakton Community College where he hit .303 with 2 HR and 27 RBI's in 154 at-bats. He also added 10 doubles and 10 stolen bases.
The Springfield Sliders are members of the Prospect League with teams in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Their 60 game schedule begins in late May and runs into August. All Sliders home games are played at Robin Roberts Stadium located at 1415 N Grand Ave E in Springfield, IL.
