HOFFMAN ESTATES - The Chicago Slaughter (5-5), the premier indoor football team in the Chicagoland area, sealed a victory over division rival Green Bay Blizzard (7-3) this Saturday evening at the Sears Centre Arena in front of 4,910 fans for the second of three meetings scheduled for the 2010 season. With 20 seconds left in the 4th quarter and down by three points, Green Bay Blizzard QB Jake Phillips fumbled the ball under pressure from the defense and was recovered by Slaughter LB Lenny Radtke preserving the victory. Kicker Chris Nendick set a league record kicking a 60 yard field goal. Slaughter RB Jarrett Payton led the Slaughter offense by scoring three times: two rushing and one receiving. Starting QB Randy Hutchison finished his night by going 12-27 for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Green Bay took the opening drive down to the Slaughter five-yard line, but the drive stalled and K Tino Amancio missed a 30-yard field goal to keep the team off the scoreboard. However, Blizzard 33 Maurice Simpkins intercepted a Hutchison pass on the next possession and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to make the score 7-0 Blizzard. The Slaughter responded, as Hutchison found Payton wide open along the sideline for a 47-yard reception to bring the score 7-6. Green Bay recovered a Slaughter onside kick and RB Randy Bell scored on a 1-yard touchdown to extend the Blizzard lead to 13-6. Chicago responded with a 44-yard pass from Hutchison to WR De'Cody Fagg at the Green Bay 3-yard line. After a penalty, WR Reggie Gray hauled in a 10-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 13 at the end of the first quarter.

The teams traded field goals to begin the second quarter followed by Green Bay 29-yard touchdown to make the score 23-16. Green Bay tackled the Chicago returner in the end zone on the ensuing kickoff to tack on an additional point to their score, but Chicago K Chris Nendick stepped up setting a team record by hitting a 60-yard field goal to cut the Blizzard lead to 24-19. After a Green Bay 35-yard field goal, Payton scored again for Chicago, this time on a 1-yard plunge, to cut the lead to 27-25. Green Bay hit on a late field goal to take a 30-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Chicago started the second half driving all the way near the Green Bay goal line, but Slaughter backup QB Woodley was picked off in the end zone. After Green Bay turned the ball over on the subsequent drive, Payton scored his third touchdown of the game on a three-yard carry to put the Slaughter back on top 32-30. Burnoski caught his second long touchdown of the day as he scored on a 34-yard strike behind the Slaughter defense to regain a five-point lead. Hutchison then took things into his own hands scoring on an 18-yard quarterback keeper to make the score 40-37 after a two-point conversion to Gray. Green Bay tied the game at 40 on a 22-yard field goal, which ended the 3rd quarter scoring.

The 4th quarter scoring began when Nendick nailed a 45-yard field goal to put the Slaughter back on top 43-40 with six minutes left in regulation. Green Bay drove down to the Slaughter goal line with Burnoski grabbing a 1-yard touchdown reception to put Green Bay up four with 2:30 left to go in regulation. Chicago's offense got on track and drove down to the Green Bay 1-yard line as Woodley took a quarterback draw into the end zone to put Chicago up 50-47 with 48 seconds left in regulation.

"It was great to come back after a bad loss last week (against Bloomington)," said Hutchison. "So much in this league is about momentum and it's nice to get that back. This was an important game against a good team. Indoor ball is not an easy game, either physically or mentally, and it's important to use a night like this to get your edge back."

"I told some reporters before the game that I was going to get a 61-yarder tonight," said Nendick about his record-setting kick. "It came pretty close to that, and it was a huge thrill. We were frustrated, because we couldn't get the ball down the field and we needed that score at that time. I knew I had to crush it to get it that far. So I came at it low and fast, and gave it everything I had. It turned out well and I am happy."

The next home game for the Slaughter will be Friday, May 28th, at the Sears Centre Arena against the West Michigan ThunderHawks. Kickoff will be at 7:35.
