
Slammers To Take Part In Annual Asthma Walk

PELHAM, Ala. â The Alabama Slammers are pleased to announce plans to participate in the American Lung Association's 2nd annual Asthma Walk this coming Sunday, October 26th. The walk is sponsored by the American Lung Association of Alabama, to raise awareness of asthma, its causes and effects and methods of treatment. The walk will be held along the Shades Creek Greenway Walking Trails in Homewood that parallel the South side of Lakeshore Boulevard between Greensprings Highway and Highway 31.
"We're looking forward to participating in the Asthma Walk," said Slammers' President, Taylor Hall. "The American Lung Association of Alabama is an organization we are proud to support, as they strive to fight this disease."
Registration for the event takes place at the walk site beginning at 1:00p.m. on Sunday. The walk begins at 2:00p.m., with post-walk festivities beginning at 4:00p.m.
The Slammers open the 2003 - 2004 campaign at home at the Pelham Civic Complex on Friday, November 7th against the Jacksonville Barracudas. The Slammers will also face the Lakeland Loggerheads, Macon Trax, Miami Manatees, and Orlando Seals in the inaugural season of the World Hockey Association 2 (WHA2). All games will be broadcast on www.irn.fm.
