
Slammers Add Big Cheese

PELHAM, AL â The Alabama Slammers announced today that forward Jeff Cheeseman has been signed to a contract for the 2003-04 season.
A native of Norland, Ontario, Cheeseman comes to the Slammers after playing the last two seasons for the San Angelo Saints of the CHL where he recorded 19 goals and 27 assists in 66 games. In 121 career games, Cheeseman has posted 36 goals and 42 assists for a total of 78 points.
"Jeff is a great team player with tremendous speed," said Slammers head coach Garry Unger. "Besides his great scoring ability, Jeff is always well-liked by the fans and will be a definite asset to our team and our organization."
Cheeseman is entering his 4th season of professional hockey after finishing his college career at Lake Superior State University where he notched 25 goals, 14 assists and 108 penalty minutes in 95 games.
"I am very excited to be involved in the Slammers organization," said Cheeseman. "I have heard nothing but great things about the city and the fans in the area. I am also very eager to play for a coach like Garry Unger. He is obviously a well respected hockey man and will field a team that will compete each night."
The Slammers open the 2003-04 campaign at home at the Pelham Civic Complex on Friday, November 7th against the Jacksonville Barracudas.
