BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Forward Michael Parker led all scorers with 32 points in limited minutes as the Bellingham Slam cruised to a 146-104 win over the shorthanded Tijuana Dragons in an American Basketball Association game Thursday night at Whatcom Pavilion.

Tijuana, which suited just seven players, started out the game hot, surprising the Slam with a nine point lead at 19-10 halfway through the first quarter, before Bellingham quickly regrouped and went on to dominate the game. The Slam never trailed after Parker hit a jumper with 36 seconds left in the first quarter to knot the score at 27-27 going into the quarter break.

After outscoring the Dragons 41-17 in the second quarter, the Slam found themselves with a 24-point halftime lead at 68-44.

With the Slam's reserves seeing action for almost the entire second half, guard Chris Ferguson used the opportunity to put on a three-point clinic, setting a new team record by hitting 9-of-12 three-pointers in just 16 minutes of play. Ferguson finished as the game's second leading scorer with 29 points.

Bellingham shot a season-high 60 percent from the field, and received scoring from every player except center Brian Dennis, who instead contributed six rebounds. In addition to Ferguson's record, the team also set two new franchise marks: The Slam finished a perfect 16-for-16 from the free throw line for the first time in franchise history, and also shot a record 59.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The Dragons were led in scoring by forward Mike Jones (no relation to the Slam's Mike Jones) with 28 points. Two Tijuana players finished with double-doubles, with forward Clifford Robinson scoring 11 points and gathering 11 rebounds and guard Reynardo Curry contributing 15 points and dishing out 10 assists.

The same two teams play again in a rematch Friday night at Whatcom Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
