BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Jacob Stevenson led six slam players in double figures with 25 points as the Bellingham Slam defeated the Fresno Heatwave, 121-99, in an American Basketball Association game at Whatcom Pavilion on Friday night.
The contest was the final regular season game for the Slam, who finish their inaugural season with a 18-14 record. The Slam are assured of a spot in this season's ABA playoffs, and are also guaranteed to play one game at home, but it has not been determined yet if the Slam will host a first round playoff game on the weekend of March 10-12, or if the team will receive a first round bye and host a second round playoff game on the weekend of March 17-19. The winners of the second round playoff games from around the ABA will meet in Rochester, New York for the ABA's "Great Eight" Championship Series taking place March 22-26. The Slam will learn their playoff position as well as their next opponent on Monday.
Friday's game was the fourth meeting of the season between the Slam and Heatwave, with the Slam sweeping the season series 4-0. The Slam never trailed in the game and received a professional career high 19 points from center T.J. Williams to compliment Stevenson's 25. DeAndre Cornelius led Fresno with a game-high 28 points.
