
Slam back in IBL title game after blowout win over Vancouver

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Slam guard Drew Ready had a career night as he helped proped the Bellingham Slam back in the International Basketball League championship game for thethird time in franchise history after a 127-98 win over the Vancouver Volcanoes in IBL semi-final playoff action at Whatcom Pavilion on Friday.
Ready finished with a game-high 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting and added nine assists and six rebounds in perhaps his best outing in a Slam uniform.
Guard Paul Hafford helped break open a tight game in the middle stages of the second quarter with three quick buckets that put the Slam up by 13, at 41-28. The Slam carried that momentun into halftime and led 58-47.
Bellingham continued their hot shooting in the third quarter, building thier lead up to 20 halfway through the period beforetaking a91-75 lead into the fourth.
The Slam's defense came up big in the fourth quarter, holding Vancouver to 23 points to ensure a win and a berth in the title game.
Ready led the Slam in scoring for the first time this season, while center Blake Poole was just behind him with 25 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. Hafford finished with 22 points.
Forward Alex Hartman led five Volcanoes players in double figures with 21 points. Guard Brad Lechtenberg had 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point range.
The Slam advance to the IBL Championship game on Sunday, July 8 against the Portland Chinooks, who defeated the Olympia Reign in Friday's other semi-final game.
