Minot Skyrockets News Release

Minot, ND - June 13, 2008 - The Minot Skyrockets will be holding the first ever Parent/Child Camp next weekend. The camp will be held at Bishop Ryan High School and will start on Friday, June 20 at 7-9 pm. Camp will continue on Saturday at 9-12 am and 1:30-4 pm. The Parent/Child camp is open to children entering Grades K-8 in the fall, and any adult can accompany them, whether it be a parent, guardian, sibling or other.

The camp is designed to help children learn the fundamentals of basketball while allowing parents the opportunity to learn coaching tips to use at home with their children. Camp will include coaching on shooting, passing, and dribbling.

There will also be numerous games and competitions for both the parents and children. Camp will include a skills challenge where parent and child will have to complete a timed obstacle course. There will be a 3-Point Shootout with the child's champion taking on the parent's champion in an Old School vs. New School battle. Parent and child will also compete as a team in the 2-Ball Competition, shooting from designated spots on the court. The Saturday afternoon session will conclude with a 2 on 2 tournament where parent and child will compete for the title of Camp Champ.
