Skyrockets Lose to Albany 111-104

Albany, NY - February 23, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets' win streak came to a close tonight in Albany with a 111-104 loss (5-2 quarter points) to the Patroons. Despite the loss, the Skyrockets hold on to the number one spot in the American Conference.

Although the Patroons started strong, the Skyrockets stayed with them for most of the first quarter, but in the final minute, Carl Mitchell hit back-to-back three-pointers to put Albany up by 11 going into the second. The Skyrockets managed to win the second quarter by two, but were still down by nine heading to the locker room at half time.

Desmond Ferguson hit some nice three-balls, but the Skyrockets were unable to overtake the Patroons in the second half. They lost the third quarter by only one point and did take the fourth quarter point with a 26-23 score. The final score put Albany on top at 111-104.

This was the third game in a row where Desmond Ferguson was hot from behind the 3-point line. Tonight he led the team with 41 points, including 9 of 11 from the arc. Ferguson also added 6 rebounds and was almost flawless from the free throw line, making 10 of 11. Jason Smith added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the Skyrockets.

The Patroons were led by Carl Mitchell, posting a double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Kareem Reid guided Albany with his 13 points and 11 assists.

The Skyrockets and the Patroons will meet in Albany again on Saturday night for Game 2 of the series. Tip-off is set for 6:35 pm CST.

Meanwhile, the Skyrockets are anticipating their first home games in over three weeks. They will host the Pittsburgh Xplosion on Tuesday, February 27th and Wednesday, February 28th.
