Minot Skyrockets News Release
San Jose, CA. The San Jose Skyrockets (26-5) didn't start out as fast as the previous night, but were still able to beat the Orange County Buzz (9-21) 151-93 in an ABA game at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. It was a slow start in the opening minutes by starting out shooting only one for nine from the field before breaking into the lead 7-4 with 6:57 to go. They then finished with a 29-17 first period lead. The Skyrockets' Lamar Castile had 5 assists in the quarter.
San Jose began to catch fire with 3-pointers in the second period and led at halftime 71-35. Matt Luedtke scored 14 points in the period hitting on four 3-point shots. The second half seemed easy for San Jose as they continued their steady play using multiple substitutions. They built a 109-66 lead after three quarters and closed out the game with a solid and uncontested 151-93 victory.
San Jose once again used a balanced scoring attack with eight players in double figures. Jason Smith scored 22 points while Anwar Ferguson contributed 20 points on 10-13 shooting with mostly slam-dunks. Vaughan Nelson's 25 points paced Orange County with Howard Lake adding 21.
