Skyrockets Announce Skills Camp

Minot, ND - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the second Junior Skyrockets camp to be held this weekend at Bishop Ryan High School. The Junior Skyrockets Skills Development camp will start on Friday, April 18 and will run through Sunday, April 20. The camp will be conducted by CBA All-Star Kevin Rice. Campers will be instructed on shooting, ball handling, rebounding and defensive skills. They will learn through a combination of drills and competitions that are both productive and fun.

Kevin Rice has been a professional basketball player for the past 8 years, playing in numerous leagues around the world. Rice has won 2 semi-pro championships as a player and was named Defensive Player of the Year in the CBA and Europe. He also was the Assistant Coach for the 2007 NBDL Championship Dakota Wizards. Rice was an All-Star for the Minot Skyrockets this past season, averaging 13.7 points and 4.3 rebounds. He has coached youth camps in the Bismarck area for the past 4 years. This will be the second such camp for the Minot Skyrockets.

The skills camp is open to kids entering grades 4-12 in the fall and will run as follows:

Friday: Registration & Orientation

7-9 pm - All Ages

Saturday & Sunday:

8-11 am Boys and Girls entering grades 4-6

12-2:30 pm Boys entering grades 7-12

2:30-5 pm Girls entering grades 7-12

The cost of the camp ranges is $45 for grades 4-6 and $55 for grades 7-12. The Skyrockets are also working with area businesses to provide scholarships for children in the community. Campers are asked to pre-register by calling the Skyrockets office at 839-SLAM or sending an email to anna@minotskyrockets.com.
