Minot Skyrockets News Release

Minot, ND - October 4, 2006 - The Minot Skyrockets have signed their first ever player to the team. Pending league approval, the team has signed Desmond Ferguson, a 6'7" forward. Desmond graduated from the Detroit Mercy College and played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and overseas for several years. He started with the Flint Fuze of the CBA for the 2001-2002 season. He played overseas briefly and then joined the Great Lakes Storm of the CBA for the 2002-2003 season and played in the CBA All-Star game.

After another tour overseas, he joined Coach Chris Daleo and the Rockford Lightning in March 2004. After only five games with the Lightning, Desmond got his first NBA call-up. The Portland Trailblazers were scouting a CBA play-off game when they saw Desmond Ferguson put on a spectacular show including 31 points and a play-off win. On March 26, 2004, Desmond signed a standard 10-day contract and was signed for the remainder of the season on April 5, 2004. The Trailblazers lost Ferguson to the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 Expansion Draft.

"Desmond is a veteran and a true professional. He has all-star experience as well as NBA experience. I will consider Desmond one of our floor leaders," said Coach Daleo. "Desmond knows how to win ballgames and what it takes to succeed in this league. I think the Minot Fans will really enjoy watching him play this year."

The Skyrockets are pleased to have this caliber of talent coming into the arena to entertain the fans. Minot has not yet seen basketball at this level, and Desmond is just the beginning. During his CBA career, he averaged 22.8 points per game and will continue the same level of competition in Minot.

"After playing last year in Germany, I wanted to spend this year in the United States. I am very comfortable playing in Coach Daleo's system and had a great deal of success in it. I am looking forward to having a successful season in Minot," said Desmond.
