Minot Skyrockets News Release

Minot, ND - February 22, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are pleased to announce the signing of point guard Melvin Scott, pending league approval. Scott is a 6'2" point guard from the University of North Carolina. He played for the Tar Heels from 2001 to 2005. His senior year he played in 37 games and helped them win the 2005 ACC Regular Season Championship and the 2005 NCAA Championship.

Melvin Scott is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and played at Southern High School where he averaged over 20 points per game. He won Maryland's High School Player of the Year and had his jersey retired by the school. After winning the NCAA National Championship in 2005, Scott played overseas in several international leagues including Greece, Germany, and Iceland. In 2006, he also played with the NBA D-League's Austin Torros.

"Melvin is being brought in to replace Darnell Miller. Darnell played great for us, but he had to go home for personal reasons. It's not every day that you can bring in a point guard like Melvin that played for the national championship and has played all over the world. Melvin will be meeting us in Albany and will play in the games on Friday and Saturday," said Head Coach Chris Daleo.

The Skyrockets are currently in 1st place in the American Division and will be playing the 2nd place Albany Patroons on Friday and Saturday night at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY. Tip-off is at 6:35 pm Central Time and the live webcast of scores and stats can be viewed at www.cbahoopsonline.com.

The next home games for the Skyrockets will be Tuesday, February 27th and Wednesday, February 28th when they take on the Pittsburgh Xplosion. Tip-off for both of these games is at 7:05 pm at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. To purchase tickets for the games, please visit the Skyrockets office in the lower level of the Minot Auditorium or call 839-SLAM for more information.
