Skyhawks Take A Pair From New Hampshire

AUGUSTA, N.J. - In Game one of a day-night doubleheader, the Sussex Skyhawks took defeated the American Defenders of New Hampshire by the score of 2-1. The Skyhawks took advantage of a two base error following a hit by lead-off hitter Jorge Moreno when Ray Sorreno's double knocked him in giving the Skyhawks an early lead.

Skyhawks starter Carter Clements went the distance (seven innings) striking out three to earn his sixth win of the season. Maikel Jova, who left the game in the seventh, got his 119th hit of the season, tying the team record for the season.

In Game two, the Skyhawks dominated winning 8-0. The Skyhawks picked up two runs in the third, the first on a hit by Ray Serrano scoring Jesse Fuller, and the second coming on a fielder's choice by Chris Kelly scoring Ryan Boelsen. In the fifth, the Skyhawks added three more making the score 5-0.

Skyhawks starter Roger Lincoln, who carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, got the win, his sixth of the year. Boelsen led the Skyhawks going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Skyhawks return to tomorrow afternoon for the second of back-to-back doubleheaders against New Hampshire. Game one start time is 1:00, with Game two beginning about thirty minutes following the conclusion of Game one.
