Ottawa Ontario - The Ottawa SkyHawks are pleased to announce coming to terms with Justin Tubbs, a 6'3 guard who played NCAA Division 1 Basketball at East Tennessee State University.
Justin will be heading to the SkyHawks training camp in October along with 11 other previously announced players. The 203 lbs high flyer is known for his athleticism and bringing crowds to their feet with his incredible slam dunks.
Justin Tubbs brings excellent NCAA and Professional performance records to the team, showing consistent development as a player. Tubbs clocked in an average of 10.5 ppg and 4.6 rpg in his senior year at Tennessee State. In 2012, Tubbs played for the Sauk Valley Predators of the PBL in Illinois scoring 27 points in the season opener pushing his team to a 140 to 95 win over the Indiana Diesels.
Staying busy in 2012-2013, Tubbs also played Pro Basketball in Israel scoring a high of 16 points in one game during his 3 games that season.
Head Coach Kevin Keathley has high expectations for Tubbs, his comments:
"Justin is one of the most athletically gifted players I've came across in my coaching career.
He has a combination of athleticism, strength, speed and quickness that is tough to find on any level of the game. Justin will be a true weapon on the offensive and defensive end for our SkyHawks basketball team. He will be one of the more exciting players to watch in person in NBL Canada this season. "
Basketball fans know Tubbs best for his awe-inspiring athletic ability, he has consistently dazzled crowds with his amazing slam dunks. ESPN has featured Justin Tubbs in their Top 10 Plays segment 3 times in one season, commanding the number one spot twice. Owner Gus Takkale said "Justin Tubbs brings two important elements to the team; first consistency on both ends of the court, second excitement, Tubbs throws down the type of dunks that will have the whole crowd screaming . We're looking forward to the level of play Tubbs will display for our fans"!
The SkyHawks begin their inaugural season November 2, 2013 playing out of the Canadian Tire Centre, formally known as Scotia Bank Place. Season tickets are now available at www.ottawaskyhawks.com/tickets, single game tickets and special packages will become available in September.
