SkyHawks can't break Powerade Centre curse

December 14, 2013 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Ottawa SkyHawks News Release

Brampton came out with a lot of energy and fire power in the first quarter. It seemed as though the SkyHawks were a step slower than the A's which resulted in an 18 point deficit.

The SkyHawks having won three games at home and loosing one at the Powerade Centre before tonight's match up, it is apparent by the plays on the court that the A's went back to the drawing board and implemented a new strategy and the SkyHawks succumb to the curse of the Powerade Centre once again.

Coach Jackson took the starters off the floor and allowed them to refocus. The SkyHawks regrouped in the second quarter hitting back to back 3 pointers by Anderson and Rose and eventually outscoring the A's by 15 points narrowing the margin to 3 points.

The 3rd quarter was a back and forth affair with several lead changes that finished up with the A's clinging to a one point lead.

The SkyHawks seemed to run out of gas in the 4th quarter while Brampton stretched the lead to as many as 15 behind hot 3 point shooting from the A's guards.

Technical Director Merrick Palmer said "We didn't bring our usual intensity on tonight. Brampton really took it to us early and forced us to expend too much energy to claw our way back. Unfortunately we just could not get any stops in the 4th and that proved to be the ball game".

The SkyHawks look to rebound against the surging Mississauga Power tomorrow at the Hershey Centre.
