Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Feb. 11 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce broke a five-game home losing streak Wednesday night with a 103-96 victory over the Bakersfield Jam. Six Skyforce players scored in the double-digits, including a game-high 26 point effort by David Bailey, as Sioux Falls used a balanced attack to defeat the Jam.
Sioux Falls (16-14) trailed by six points to end the first quarter down 29-23 before outscoring the Jam 35-22 in the second quarter to take a 58-51 lead at half.
The Skyforce recorded nine steals for the game and forced five turnovers in the fourth quarter alone, preventing Bakersfield (17-14) from challenging for the lead again.
"This feels good. You know we've been pretty good at home over the course of time, and just kind of had a home funk," Skyforce head coach Nate Tibbets said. "We had some good energy tonight, and that second quarter I think was huge."
John Edwards netted 19 points with Glen McGowan contributing 15 and Frank Williams adding 10. Bobby Jones recorded his fifth double-double on the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds while Chris Ellis earned his straight second double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Jam was led by Justin Reed with 24 points and Terrell Everett with 18 points. Terrance Thomas posted a game-high 18 rebounds.
Both teams will enjoy some down time for the All-Star Break but the Skyforce will return to action Feb. 17 as they take on the Mad Ants in Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. CT. Bakersfield will host the Austin Toros on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. PT.
