The Syracuse SkyChiefs open the 2004 International League season Thursday, April 8 vs. Rochester at P&C Stadium beginning at 4 PM. Syracuse and Rochester will also play at 4 PM on Friday, April 9 at P&C Stadium followed by a 2-game series at Frontier Field in Rochester April 10 and 11 â both games are scheduled to start at 1:35 PM.
"We feel the later starting time on Opening Day will allow more fans to enjoy the first game of the season," said SkyChiefs General Manager John Simone.
The 2004 season marks the 4th straight season that Syracuse will begin their season at home and it's the 4th consecutive season that the SkyChiefs and Rochester have played a 4-game home and home season opening series against one another.
Syracuse will play 16 games against their IL North Division rivals and 8 games against both the IL South and West divisions. The SkyChiefs are home on Father's Day, Sunday, June 20 vs. Columbus. For the first time since 1997, Syracuse is home for the 4th of July and for the 3rd straight season, the SkyChiefs will end the season at home on Labor Day, Monday, September 6. The Columbus Clippers will make their only Syracuse visit Saturday, June 19- Tuesday, June 22; the defending IL Champion Durham Bulls will be in Syracuse for four games June 7-10.
