Piscataway, N.J. (Saturday, May 30, 2015) - Sky Blue FC (1-3-3, 3 points) returns home to New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Houston Dash (2-2-2, 8 points) at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University. Kickoff for the match is set for 3:00 PM EST.
"We need to continue the momentum that we have built over the past couple of games," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "We have been playing pretty well but just have not taken proper care of our chances. We are looking forward to playing at home, and we hope all of our fans will help us Paint the Town Pink on Sunday. As a team, our goal is to get the type of result that we deserve in terms of the way we have been playing recently."
Sky Blue FC enters Sunday's match following a 1-1 road draw with the Boston Breakers last Friday night. In that contest, Sky Blue FC was able to gain an early advantage over the Breakers following a 25-yard strike from midfielder Katy Freels, but a 60th minute equalizer by Boston forward Stephanie McCaffrey leveled the game in the second half.
Houston picked up its second win of the season last Saturday night in a road pairing with Portland Thorns FC, 1-0, as forward Jessica McDonald scored the lone tally of the match by heading in a cross from forward Kealia Ohai in the 24th minute.
Sunday's game marks the second time this season that Sky Blue FC has hosted the Dash at Yurcak Field. In their first encounter, Sky Blue FC got on the scoreboard early with a 14th minute tally by Freels, only to see Houston respond with a 52nd minute notch by McDonald to hang the final 1-1 count.
After Sunday, Sky Blue FC will hit the road to play Seattle Reign FC on Saturday, June 6th. The National Women's Soccer League will then take a break for the Group Stage of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup before the team returns home to Yurcak Field on Sunday, June 28th, to host the Chicago Red Stars at 6:00 PM EST.
