Sky Blue FC News Release
Tinton Falls, N.J. - Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it has partnered with the American Diabetes Association through their local office in Bridgewater, N.J. As part of the relationship, Sky Blue FC will welcome the American Diabetes Association into Yurcak Field when the New Jersey side opens its 2016 home slate on Sunday, April 24th, hosting the Washington Spirit at 6:00 PM.
"Diabetes is a tragic epidemic that is affecting far too many people," said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. "By joining our efforts with the American Diabetes Association, we hope to play a small role in reversing some of the startling statistics that exist today concerning diabetes."
The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes, as well as improve the lives of those who are affected by the condition. It is estimated that approximately 30 million children and adults in the United States are currently suffering from diabetes. The ADA offers programs throughout the country to assist people living with the disease, in addition to providing preventative education to those who are not presently affected.
"The American Diabetes Association is excited to partner with local sports organizations such as Sky Blue FC," said Taran Connelly, Area Director (New Jersey). "We encourage a lifestyle of health and wellness to combat the rising statistics of diabetes. If current trends continue, one in three people will have diabetes by 2050. The Association exists as an advocate for the rights of people with diabetes and serves as a leading force against the disease. Our partnership with Sky Blue FC on April 24th is a great way to encourage the public to get out into the community and help Stop Diabetes! It also is perfectly timed in advance of one of our Mission Days on May 4, Get Fit Don't Sit Day!"
Tickets for the April 24th home opening match of Sky Blue FC can be purchased online today. For any questions regarding tickets, call the Sky Blue FC tickets department at 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849), and a team representative will be happy to assist you.
