Sky Blue FC Looks to Bounce Back in Chicago

Sky Blue FC News Release

Tinton Falls, N.J. - Sky Blue FC (2-3-1, 7 points) will return to National Women's Soccer League action on Sunday night, heading to the Midwest to take on the Chicago Red Stars (4-1-1, 13 points) at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. Kickoff for the match is slated for 7:00 p.m. ET, with fans able to watch all of the action live in HD via YouTube.

"Obviously, we were disappointed with the result last weekend in Western New York, and the players have been very motivated to step up and correct some of the mistakes that we made," said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. "We now face a very good Chicago team on Sunday, and we are focused on getting back to winning ways. We have seen a great attitude and application from the players throughout the week, and we are really looking forward to putting that into action."

Last Saturday night, Sky Blue FC fell at the hands of the Western New York Flash in a road outing, 5-2. Scoring goals in the match for the New Jersey side were Kelley O'Hara and Sarah Killion, but the pair of tallies would not be enough to get the result. Making her season debut in the game was a very promising player in British international Leah Galton, who registered an assist nine minutes into her professional debut on the O'Hara notch.

Sky Blue FC will be without the services of O'Hara this weekend, with the U.S. international headed into national team camp for a pair of Olympic warm-ups. The New Jersey club will also be missing Maya Hayes on Sunday evening after she suffered an MCL sprain last weekend that will sideline her for 2-4 weeks. One key addition to the team will be midfielder Theresa Diederich, who was called up to the full roster this week.

The Red Stars are currently sitting alongside the Washington Spirit on top of the NWSL Table, and they have not given up a goal in the run of play over their last five consecutive matches. The only score during that time was via an 89th minute Kim Little penalty kick in their last game, a 2-1 win over Seattle Reign FC. Prior to the Little conversion, their overall shutout streak stretched to 485 minutes, which broke the former NWSL record of 435 minutes that was set by Sky Blue FC in 2013.

Missing from the Chicago roster on Sunday will be goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, defender Julie Johnston and forward Christen Press, who will all be with the U.S. Women's National Team.

After Sky Blue FC plays the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday night, the team will then return home to Yurcak Field on Saturday, June 11th, to host FC Kansas City at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for that match are available now.

Half-season, flex and individual tickets for Sky Blue FC are all on sale! For any questions regarding tickets, call the Sky Blue FC tickets department at 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849), and a team representative will be happy to assist you.
