KANSAS CITY (May 28,2016) - FC Kansas City announced the signing of midfielder Lo'eau LaBonta on Friday afternoon. She will wear No. 1 for the Blues this season.
"Lo'eau has been here since preseason and has worked awfully hard and has earned this contract," general manager Huw Williams said. "We are excited to have her on board."
LaBonta was drafted by Sky Blue FC with the No. 34 pick of the 2015 National Women's Soccer League College Draft out of Stanford University. She was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American and Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Second Team selection, finishing with 13 goals and five assists her senior year. She had 22 goals and seven assists in her career.
She played six games with Sky Blue FC and recorded two shots in 80 minutes, but was waived last July. LaBonta spent the first several weeks of this season on FC Kansas City's practice squad. She will replace recently retired Jen Buczkowski on the Blues' roster.
