Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League along with Skeeter Barnes announced today that the fourth annual "Skaters As Waiters" charity event will be held on Thursday, March 15 to help kickoff the Kearney Area Children's Museum's annual campaign.
The "Skaters As Waiters" event will be held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Skeeter Barnes restaurant located adjacent to the FirsTier Event Center.
Through the "Skaters as Waiters" event 10 Tri-City Storm hockey players will step off of the ice and into the Kearney restaurant. Storm players Aaron Rock, Cameron Cooper, Brett Wysopal, Nick Oslund, Jesse Martin, Jordan Willert, Calle Ridderwall, Tommy Mannino, Matt Ambroz and Tristin Llewellyn will be greeting, seating and serving customers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. All tips the players receive during that time will be given to the Kearney Area Children's Museum.
The Kearney Area Children's Museum, whose annual campaign will run from March 15 through April 15, provides fun, interactive and educational experiences for children that stimulate creative play and expression, while supporting connections within the family, the community and the world around us.
"This event gives our staff and players the opportunity to work with a great partner, Skeeter Barnes, and do some work for a good cause," said Greg Shea, the Storm's vice president of operations. "To have the opportunity to also help kickoff the Children's Museum's annual campaign is something everyone involved is excited about."
The first three "Skaters As Waiters" events have generated over $3,600 for nonprofit organizations including the Merryman Performing Arts Center, UNK and American Legion baseball teams and the Red Cross Heroes program.
NRG Media is a participating media sponsor of the event.
