March 30, 2007 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- Every professional hockey game consists of 60 minutes. On Friday night, the Rockford IceHogs needed just a 2:36 stretch in the third period to bury the Elmira Jackals in front of 4,013 at the Rockford MetroCentre. Rockford used six third period goals to make a tight game one-sided in the final 20-minutes and winger Bruce Watson netted his second hat-trick of the season to lead the Hogs.

With the IceHogs on top 2-1 entering the third period, Watson would extend the lead after center Preston Mizzi set him up at 1:50. Watson one-timed the pass past Elmira goalie Dave Lemanowicz. Then at 3:19, center Bryce Cockburn blasted home his 11th tally of the season from the high slot making it 4-1. The barrage continued at 3:54 when Watson completed his hat-trick, poking in a Luke Fritshaw blast in on the power play. The hat-trick is Watson's second of the season.

Mizzi later got in the scoring act, pushing the score to 5-1, wristing in his team-leading 28th marker of the season at 4:26, chasing Lemanowicz from the game. Rockford wasn't done there, however, as winger Jason Notermann ripped in his 14th goal of the season past Zach Sikich at 9:45 before rookie winger Erick Lizon potted his first career goal at 14:42 off of a perfect set-up pass from Robin Big Snake.

Watson began the scoring just 2:02 into the game for Rockford. Mizzi set Watson up in front and the winger hammered in the marker for the 1-0 advantage. The Jackals tied the contest at 9:48, the only blemish on Frederic Cloutier on the night, when Joe Markusen knocked a rebound past the Hogs puck stopper. Rockford grabbed the lead for good in the second period when Fritshaw blasted in his sixth goal of the season, the eventual game-winning goal, at 9:37.

Cloutier finished the game making 27 saves. Mizzi completed his night with an IceHogs season single-game high plus/minus rating of +5.
