
Six family nights highlight Patriots 2005-06 schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., October 25 - The Fayetteville Patriots will tip off their fifth anniversary season on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a special Family Fun Night and a matchup against a new member of the NBA Development League, the Fort Worth Flyers. In all, the Patriots will play 25 games at the Crown Coliseum, with 19 falling on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The Patriots' Family Fun Plan features five of those games in addition to Opening Night with a variety of themes: Friday, Dec. 30 vs. Florida will be the annual Holiday Hoops Celebration; Saturday, Jan. 21 vs. Roanoke will be Flow Mazda Military Appreciation Night; Saturday, Feb. 25 vs. Arkansas will be Lumbee River EMC Kids' Night; Saturday, March 11 vs. Florida will be Harley Davidson Rock & Roll Night; and Friday, April 7 vs. Roanoke will be Fan Appreciation Night.
The Family Fun Play offers fans the best value available. For less than $5 a person per game, families can enjoy tickets and dinner for four, two premium giveaways and a money-back guarantee.
After playing just five home games before the end of the year, Fayetteville will host at least one game on seven of the following 11 weekends. The Crown Coliseum will also be the site of the 2006 D-League Showcase, an annual event during which all eight teams play two games in two days before a host of NBA scouts, coaches and executives.
The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA?s umbrella. Thirty-four (34) players have been called up to the NBA on 50 separate occasions. Ten (10) former D-League coaches, five athletic trainers, 11 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November of 2001.
Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
