Sites for Swb Yankees 2012 Home Games Determined

Published on September 30, 2011 under International League (IL1) News Release

The International League today confirmed that due to the $40M reconstruction project scheduled to take place in 2012 at PNC Field, home of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the facility will be unavailable for League play next season.

At the same time the League announced that the 2012 "home" games of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will be disbursed amidst the other five International League North Division cities and one New York-Penn League city.

The 2012 SWB Yankees home games will be played in:

Batavia, NY

Buffalo, NY

Lehigh Valley (Allentown), PA

Pawtucket, RI

Rochester, NY

Syracuse, NY

"This brings to a close what has been a lengthy process with a number of twists and turns, but the League is quite confident the inconveniences experienced due to this relocation will ultimately be a small price to pay for the long term benefit of a sorely needed new facility for fans of the SWB Yankees," said International League President Randy Mobley. "I wish to publically thank each of our five International League teams that will be hosting additional games in 2012 for their willingness to pitch in and be part of the resolution to this matter. A special thank you is due New York-Penn League President Ben Hayes and members of the New York-Penn League for allowing International League games to be played in Batavia's Dwyer Stadium."

Additional details including specific dates and game times will be announced through the individual teams hosting the relocated games.
