Sirois back for season seven
July 8, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has re-signed veteran left wing Allan Sirois for the 2004-2005 season.
The 29-year-old has been part of the Pride organization for seven of the team's eight years in Florence, coming aboard prior to the team's second season in 1998-99. Sirois is the Pride's all-time leader in games played (414), goals (154), assists (223), points (377) and penalty minutes (666).
This will be Sirois' 10th season of professional hockey. He has seen time in the American Hockey League with the Worcester IceCats in addition to ECHL stints with the Baton Rouge Kingfish and the Jacksonville Lizard Kings. He ranks 11th in ECHL history in games played (541), 17th in goals (206), 23rd in assists (282) and 20th in points (488).
"Allan is a fixture in the Pee Dee and wanted very badly to return," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "After talking with him over the past few weeks I am very comfortable with this decision. He is a good man, a good ambassador in the community, and still very capable of scoring 30 goals. Allan will help us be a better hockey club next season."
"I am thrilled to be returning to the Pride for my seventh season," Sirois said. "I absolutely love playing here in Florence, I love the city, and I love the fans. I cannot imagine playing anywhere else. I look forward to the start of the season, and helping to bring the Kelly Cup to the Pee Dee region."
The Pride open the 2004-2005 regular season on Friday, October 22, hosting the Roanoke Express at 7:30 p.m. The Pride continue their season-opening three-game home stand on Saturday, October 23 taking on the Greensboro Generals at 7:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 26 with a 7:00 p.m. match-up with the Gwinnett Gladiators.
