Sioux City Takes Top Spot in December Power Rankings
December 2, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
The USHL season is now one-third complete, and the December USHL Power Rankings takes a look at teams heading into the holiday season. The Sioux City Musketeers, Chicago Steel and Waterloo Black Hawks remain at the top of the poll, and the Dubuque Fighting Saints have vaulted near the top of the list as well.
Sioux City finished November in the middle of a USHL best 11-game winning streak. They have found a balance of scoring, defense and stellar goaltending that will look to carry the team moving forward.
Many teams will lose players to international tournaments in the month of December, leaving space for prospects to get a taste of the USHL. December also marks the month in which the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game rosters are expected to be unveiled.
The usahockeymagazine.com December Power Rankings takes a look at the USHL after a busy Thanksgiving weekend. 22 media members rank the teams 1st to 17th, and the votes are compiled into overall rankings. Power Rankings are determined on a monthly basis and run until Clark Cup Playoffs.
