Boston Breakers News Release

Australian international Kyah Simon scored the first hat trick of her Boston Breakers career, giving the home team a 4-2, come-from-behind win over the New England Mutiny Wednesday night at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass. The win sends Boston's record to 6-2 on the season and puts them into a first-place tie in WPSL Elite with the Chicago Red Stars.

"There haven't been many games we've been down 1-nil within 20 minutes, so it definitely was a wake-up call and really got us kicked into gear," Simon said. "Having two (goals), I had it in the back of my head that I was near a hat trick, but I was still working on assisting other people and playing good football. I was thankful that the third goal came, and at the end of the day, I can say I scored a hat trick."

In front of 2,147 fans on a sweltering hot night at Dilboy, the Breakers fell behind, 1-0, on a goal in the 12th minute by Mutiny forward Riley Houle. In the 41st minute, Simon scored her first on the night off an assist from Katie Schoepfer. Simon tallied another before the half and her third halfway through the second half. Schoepfer scored in the second half on a PK. Rookie Courtney Jones added two assists, her team-leading fourth and fifth of the season. Between Simon and Schoepfer, the two have combined for 13 goals and 4 assists this season.

T4 Offers FREE Performance Testing Competition at Breakers Game

Are you a powerful soccer player? Find out at Saturday's game! T4 Soccer (www.T4soccer.com), an official partner of the Boston Breakers, will be conducting a complimentary performance testing competition prior to and during halftime of the Boston Breakers home game against the NY Fury on Saturday, June 23, that will be open to all attending youth players.

The winners in the following age group, U12, U14, and U18, will be announced during the game and receive a PUMA soccer ball autographed by Leslie Osborne.

The T4 vertical jump test determines the athletes maximal jumping ability which is an indirect indication of the athletes lower body power. Power is the combination of strength and speed and increased lower body strength is critical in soccer for specific movements such as turning, jumping, sprinting and changing pace.

The tests will be undertaken in the fan zone at the T4 promotional tent, using an electronic jump mat under the guidance of an Assessment Specialist. Each player will conduct the tests two times with the athletes best score being placed onto the T4 web-based system.

All parents will receive a password protected profile with access to their child's score and how that score compared against the best and average score within their age group in the competition.

T4 staff will also be on site to discuss the benefits of T4 testing and the web-based system score analysis system for clubs, teams and players. Ask about our special Breakers pricing packages available this summer.

S1-SPORT Named Official Soccer Shin Guard of the Boston Breakers

S1-Sport, maker of the revolutionary S1-Sport Shin Guard, has been named the official shin guard of the Boston Breakers.

Developed by players for players, the s1 shin guard is a game-changer, providing the ultimate in player safety, comfort, and hygiene. The revolutionary breathable, washable, 2-part design (shield and undersection) virtually eliminates shin pad eczema, rash, and abrasion. The completely permeable, ultralight neoprene undersection allows sweat to pass straight through the undersection so it does not get trapped between the shin pad and the skin, therefore leaving the skin free to sweat and breathe naturally eliminating problems such as shin pad eczema, shin pad rash, odor and shin pad abrasion.

"Our professional players demand the highest level of standards in their equipment," Boston Breakers General Manager Lee Billiard said. "The uniqueness of the s1-sport shin guard provides the unmatched levels of safety and protection, while at the same time it has been designed for maximized player comfort. We are very excited to be working with s1-sport."

"Not all shin guards are the same. The innovation in our design is the two part system that eliminates common issues associated with shin guards such as tape, slipping, abrasion and odor," said Sean Paradis, North American Sales Director, s1-sport. "Today, the same levels of safety, protection and comfort demanded by professional can be enjoyed by players of all ages."
