Silverbacks to Welcome Rowdies, Adu into the Jungle

Atlanta Silverbacks News Release

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Silverbacks' (7-10-10, 31 points Combined Table) ability to remain alive in playoff contention comes down to Match Day 28 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies (9-8-10, 35 points).

With a possible nine points left remaining in the regular season, Tampa Bay enters Atlanta Silverbacks Park sitting in the fourth and final postseason spot - but just barely. A Silverbacks win at home would catapult Atlanta into a promising position, just one point under Tampa, for the final two matches - one home and one away against teams that have already qualified for the Championship (Ottawa and Minnesota).

The Rowdies haven't won on the road once during the Fall Season and have lost 75 percent of those matches. Even more, the struggling squad has only scored four goals away from home, while conceding 14.

Tampa Bay finished second in the Spring Season, but currently sit eighth in the Fall Standings.

Atlanta is coming off a loss to the Spring Season champion and overall-standings leader New York Cosmos at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, but proved they had the ability to keep up with the powerful club only days earlier in their 1-1 draw at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Atlanta's final two games of the season are against Minnesota United FC and the Fury, which means the Silverbacks could be in a wild ending to the season. In order for the underdog Silverbacks to make The Championship, they have to get points this weekend.

The Fall Season's most important match kicks off Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
