Silverbacks sign Sackin Samoan
May 12, 2007 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Dayton Silverbacks News Release
The Miami Valley Silverbacks have signed defensive lineman Peni Faitele to a contract for the remainder of the season.
Faitele, who had played for the Cincinnati Marshals last season and The Marshals this year, helps add depth for the Silverbacks along the line as their playoff run heats up. Faitele was named the "Sackin' Samoan" by Marshals public address announcer Kevin Olthaus last season. Faitele, a 100-percent Samoan, wears a traditional Samoan wrap when he is introduced.
Faitele was inactive last night in the Silverbacks' 40-37 loss to Kalamazoo, but is expected to be activated for Friday's game with Steubenville. In order to make room for Faitele on the roster, the Silverbacks waived offensive lineman Patrick Willis.
